Atlas University Turkish course: stay in Türkiye legally for one or two years

The fees

The two-year option costs $415 more than one year. That makes the second year far cheaper than starting again elsewhere.

Who this course suits

• You already live in Türkiye and your residence permit is ending.
• You finished a degree in Türkiye and want more time in the country.
• You plan to apply for a Turkish-taught degree and need to reach the required level first.
• You want to learn Turkish properly for work and daily life.

How the course links to your residence permit

Turkish law lists attending a Turkish language course as a valid reason for a short-term residence permit.

When you enrol, the university issues a document showing you are a registered course student and how long the course runs. You use it in your residence permit application.

Three rules matter:

• Two permits at most. The language-course permit can be issued no more than twice. The two-year option covers that full period.
• Attendance is reported. The course provider must tell the migration office when you start and whether you attend. Missing classes can put your permit at risk.
• The permit cannot outlast the course. If a course runs for less than a year, the permit runs only as long as the course.

The Provincial Directorate of Migration Management makes the final decision on every permit. Enrolment supports your application. It does not guarantee approval.

Costs beyond the course fee

Budget for these too:

• The residence permit card fee, 964 Turkish lira in 2026
• The residence permit fee for your nationality. Language-course students are not treated as degree students, so most nationalities pay it.
• Private health insurance
• A notarised rental contract or other proof of address

Applying from outside Türkiye

If you are not in Türkiye yet, apply for a Turkish language course visa with your acceptance letter. Do not apply for a regular student visa. After you arrive, you apply for the short-term residence permit for language course students.
